Houston - the best of America. Berkeley is the worst. Here's why.

Over the weekend, we saw the best of America: Americans helping Americans in Houston. Race, creed, color — none of it mattered. Americans were in need, and other Americans moved to help them.

Meanwhile, in Berkeley, we saw the worst of America: Americans, garbed in black, helmeted, wearing bandannas over their faces, assaulting peaceful protesters merely there to exercise their free speech rights. We saw the police stand down. We saw assaults in the streets.

So, what’s the difference between Americans in Houston and Americans in Berkeley? The existential threat. Human beings unify in the face of an existential threat. It’s why members of the military become brothers; it’s why the West unified in opposition to Communism; it’s why Americans unified after 9/11.

In Houston, the existential threat is nature. And Americans who wouldn’t share a meal are now sharing speedboats, attempting to help each other survive her wrath. Survival is the top priority; death is the ultimate enemy....

Battle-ready Harvey aims for Corpus Christi

Its interesting that days after the first of Elul, the anniversary of Jonah's entrance into Nineveh & the total solar eclipse, this storm's name (Harvey means "battle ready") & target (Corpus Christi means "body of Christ"), replicates the Rev 12 1:3-5 story. Pastor Paul Begley, below: 3 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. 4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. 5 And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne. -Rev 12:3-5

Coach Dave reminds us to "occupy til I come"

I loved this guy, Coach Dave was a high school football coach prior to becoming a Christian, and brings a practical approach to our walk in the way. He noted that many believers hungry for truth are not finding it in the modern church. In the late 70's I'd visited Folk City in Manhattan's West Village with my friend Steve Goldberg, I'd gone up to the bar to grab a couple of beers, and standing next to me was Bob Dylan, he'd given his latest album to the bartender, perhaps the owner. When I got back to the table - I whispered "Dylan" and the whole place noticed, he'd departed shortly thereafter. It's my understanding Dylan is a messianic Jew.

August 21st Total Solar Eclipse Smith's Ferry Idaho

After 3 day's attendance at the Hear the Watchmen conference featuring Scottie Clark, LA Marzulli, Zev Porot, Russ Dizdar, Carl Gallups, Paul Begley, Coach Dave, Josh Tolley, Derek Gilbert, Stewart Rhodes, founder of the Oath Keepers and visitors from as as far away as Norway and Australia, and as old as 92-year old WWII vet from Pennsylvania, we manned 3 buses at 5:30 AM from Boise, Idaho for the hour and a half journey north to Smith's Ferry.  (It took us five hours to get back to the hotel in Boise after the eclipse). Pictures to come - they need to be processed the old fashioned way.

I took my 30-year old Nikon FG20 camera out of mothballs, purchased ASA 400 film, pushed it to 1600 - invested in eclipse filters for the camera & my binoculars, and shot the eclipse in the middle of a dry, sweet-smelling field. A family walked by me afterwards, who'd wandered beyond me for the event, "what a spiritual moment," the mother said. I responded, "did you know that on the Jewish calendar this is the first day of Elul? Which is also the same day the reluctant prophet Jonah preached to Nineveh (present day Mosul), which had experienced a total solar eclipse, civil war and pestilence. Its also 40 days to the Jewish Day of Atonement and 33 days to The Feast of Trumpets, the Revelation 12:1 & 2 sign...the only Hebrew feast day that ancient Jerusalem acknowledged as "no man knows the day or hour", because the rabbis wait for the moon."  The teenage daughter responded, "fascinating!" I prayed that a seed was planted.

Farmer agrees to pay feds $1.1 million fine for plowing his own field

California farmer John Duarte thought he was acting within the law when he plowed a field on his property in 2012. But the goverment didn't see it that way. Because he plowed up some "vernal pools" of standing water that have been designated as off limits to farmers, he was fined $2.8 million and ordered to purchase tens of millions of dollars in "mitigation credits. Eventually, rather than face much larger fines and penalties, he agreed to settle the case for $1.1 million in fines and $770,000 in mitigation credits.

Feast of Trumpets: Revelation 12 sign in the heavens September 23rd

 The Feast of Trumpets was known by those in ancient Jerusalem as “The Day That No Man Knows.” And why is it called this? Well, it is because this is the only feast that is determined by the sighting of the new moon, therefore, “no man” can calculate the exact day or hour of when this feast day will begin.

PC Language Control & the Rise of the Third Reich

Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. 
 
When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.
